Mike Allred is a longtime resident of Brigham City and a proud graduate of Box Elder High School. Box Elder County is home, and serving this community has been the driving purpose of his career.
Mike’s path to law enforcement was built on real-world experience, leadership, and service. After years in business and operations, he chose to pursue a lifelong calling in public service. He began by volunteering with Box Elder County Search and Rescue, serving for six years alongside dedicated volunteers committed to saving lives and helping others in times of crisis.
Mike put himself through the police academy and was hired by the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office, starting as a Corrections Deputy. That experience provided a strong foundation in accountability, communication, and treating people with dignity and respect. He later transferred to Patrol, where he built trust throughout the community through fair, professional, and consistent policing.
As a Senior Patrol Deputy, Field Training Officer, and K9 Handler, Mike brings diverse experience to the Sheriff’s Office. He trains and mentors new deputies, helps lead by example, and supports fellow deputies in the field. He has earned his POST Mid-Level Management Certificate, demonstrating his commitment to leadership, professionalism, and readiness to serve as Sheriff.
Mike is partnered with K9 Azula, with whom he has completed extensive training and certification in narcotics detection and tracking. Together, they have helped remove illegal drugs from Box Elder County, located missing persons, and apprehended dangerous suspects. Their work has made the community safer.
On August 17, 2025, Mike responded to assist Tremonton Police during a tragic line-of-duty incident in which two officers were killed. Mike and K9 Azula were also shot. Despite being injured, Mike relayed critical information to protect responding officers and prevent further loss of life. For his actions, he was awarded the Medal of Valor and the Purple Heart.
Mike Allred is running for Sheriff of Box Elder County to provide active, accountable leadership. He believes the Sheriff should be visible, engaged, and working alongside deputies—on patrol and in the jail. As Sheriff, Mike will strengthen internal communication, ensure fiscal responsibility, support deputies with clear expectations, and build stronger partnerships with the communities the Sheriff’s Office serves.
